Study 4:
Hanson Concrete Products
(Relates
to Machinery Modifications)
Sales were being lost. The
team at Hanson Concrete Products had identified a market
for stronger concrete blocks, but
they couldn’t cost-effectively make the stronger blocks their
customers demanded…
The Operations Manager at the Southampton
production facility was tasked with turning this around.
He couldn’t
find anyone capable of modifying the company's existing,
expensive, plant to fulfil this
need. Not until a colleague gave him our number.
Following a site visit we proposed modifications to an existing
Mitsubishi AnS plc and an upgrade to their E700 HMI (concrete making
machines to the uninitiated). Our proposal lead to work that facilitated
increased flexibility in how the plant could be used and, more importantly,
improvements over the concrete mix control.
As a result Hanson can now meet the demand for stronger blocks.
This has increased profitability by a reduction in man-hours and
by opening a whole new market.
We’re delighted to say that we have
been asked to continue working with Hanson to further develop their
plant capability.
