Case Study 3:
Zhangjiagang Twentsche Cable Co Limited - China
(Relates to Machinery Relocation/Reinstallation)

Imagine a factory; imagine the CAT 5 data cable cell inside - a monumental collection of Core Extruders, Group Twinners and Sheathing lines. And guess what? …

It’s May in England and the entire unit has to be up and running in China by the end of December!

Fortunately, we take such tasks in our stride. It’s a lot of work, but the secret lies in the detail and the planning. We began the uninstall process in May, organised packing and in early June we shipped the first of the containers. By mid August the remaining plant was shipped and two weeks later our engineers arrived in China, meeting the first containers.

Managing and working with the customer’s workforce just six of our engineers completed the unpacking, reinstallation and commissioning of the plant by 21st December, ten days ahead of schedule!

Some months later we were invited back to China to move plant from another Chinese site to our customer’s new premises, where we carried out the installation and commissioning. Undoubtedly, there are Chinese companies that could have done this. To be invited back is, we feel, a first-class endorsement of our work.

People who can remain relaxed and calm under pressure are best when it comes to handling large, complex tasks; the sort of people who haven’t forgotten how to smile. Moving your business is a serious undertaking and while we never forget that we try to stay human too!
