Study 1: Plastic Insulated Cables
Limited
(Relates
to Electrical Control
Systems)
PIC had to stop production of a best selling
cable when the haul-off on a sheathing extrusion line failed. Suddenly
the production engineer, and the business, had a major problem…

The PIC engineer sourced and ordered a replacement haul-off from Europe. It
could be delivered in 5 weeks, but the supply company couldn’t offer
a control panel in time!
PIC called us, explained the situation and
told us they could only provide the external connection diagram
for the caterpillar - could we help? Of course we could. We designed
a control panel that would offer the required levels of control
and integrate the new haul-off into the line. In the 5-week lead-time
we had made the panel and were ready to go the moment the caterpillar
arrived. Upon delivery we installed and commissioned the caterpillar
and the control panel, fully integrating both into the existing
line, cutting downtime to a minimum.
